Connect Modou to Claude

1. Overview

Modou finds new business opportunities for your team. The Modou connector lets you talk to your own Modou agent from inside Claude, on both claude.ai and Claude Code. Once it is connected, you can ask Modou about your business and ask it to take action, and Claude relays the answer back to you.

The connector is a remote MCP server. MCP (the Model Context Protocol) is the open standard Claude uses to talk to outside tools in a safe, structured way. You connect it once to your Modou account, and your data stays in your account.

2. What you need

  • A Modou account. You can create one here.
  • Claude, either at claude.ai or in Claude Code.

3. The tools the connector adds

The connector exposes two tools to Claude:

  • chat_with_modou sends a message to your Modou agent. Modou has live access to the business tools you connected, for example HubSpot, Gmail, Notion, and Stripe, and can read your data and take real actions. Anything risky or outward facing, such as sending an email, creating a record, or posting publicly, is never run straight away. Modou queues it for your approval and tells you so in its reply.
  • get_pending_approvals is read only. It lists the actions Modou has queued that are waiting for your approval, with the tool, a short description, the risk level, and how long each has been waiting, plus the link where you approve or cancel.

4. Setup, step by step

The server address to add is:

In claude.ai

  1. Open Settings, then Connectors.
  2. Choose Add custom connector.
  3. Set the name to Modou and paste the server address above into the Remote MCP server URL field. Leave the other settings as they are.
  4. Add the connector, sign in with your Modou account when Claude asks, and approve access on the consent screen.

In Claude Code

Add the same address as a remote MCP server, then complete the same sign in and approval in your browser.

Claude does not allow the address to be filled in for you, so you paste it once. After that, Claude remembers the connector.

5. How approvals keep you in control

Modou never sends an email, creates a record, or posts anything on its own. Whenever it wants to do something outward facing, it queues the action and waits for you. You can approve or cancel from the Modou dashboard, from Slack, by email reply, or by asking Modou about your pending approvals inside Claude. Nothing leaves your account until you say yes.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Claude asks you to sign in, or says the connection is unauthorized. Sign in with your Modou account. Your access refreshes automatically after that, so this is usually a one time step.
  • Modou says no tools are connected. Connect your business tools first in the Modou dashboard under Integrations, then try again.
  • An action did not happen. It is almost always waiting for your approval. Ask Modou for your pending approvals, or open the approvals page in your dashboard.
  • You see a too many requests message. The connector has a short rate limit to keep things stable. Wait a minute and try again.
  • A reply is taking a while. Bigger tasks can take a few minutes. Modou keeps working and replies as soon as it is done.
